Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats – Bloodlust (CD) import from Finland

“Formed in the old wastelands of witchery and paranoia, Cambridgeshire band Uncle Acid and the deadbeats deliver the new sound of 60’s terror. This popular beat combo crawled from its secluded hideout in 2009 to record their debut album, ‘Vol. 1’ for Killer Candy Records. With a limited release in 2010, the album was warmly received with the track ‘Witches Garden’ appearing on a Classic Rock Magazine cover CD. The band also drew the attention of Leif Edling from legendary doom band Candlemass, who would later recommend them to Lee Dorrian at Rise Above. The group’s second album Blood Lust (2011) was recorded in a dilapidated barn known as The Slaughter House. Using old fuzz pedals and broken amps to create a lo fi saturated sound, the entire album was laid to rest on tape in the space of four cold months. Blood Lust tells the story of a drug crazed sadist who embarks on a witchfinding killing spree before meeting his own demise at the withered hands of Satan. The bands intention was to create an audio equivalent of a 60’s exploitation horror film. After a steady start in sales, demand for the album eventually grew beyond all expectations with all pressings quickly selling out, including a Rise Above vinyl pressing of 350 which sold out in just 24 hours.
This bastard band of weirdos will plunder on into the 2012 apocalypse with festival dates and other live appearances in the UK and Europe. The acid nightmare has truly begun…”

Alcest – Autre Temps (ltd. 7″ etched vinyl single) only 500 import from Germany

Alcest’s new single “Autre Temps” (engl. “Other Times”) will be released on December 2nd, 2011 and is a harbinger of the band’s upcoming album “Les voyages de l’âme” (engl. “The Journeys of the Soul”), which is scheduled for release in January 2012. In keeping with “Les voyages…”, “Autre Temps” presents itself as a beautiful and magical song, which will be available as a blue vinyl 7″ (with an etching on one side) limited to 500 copies as well as digital download single.”

My Dying Bride – The Barghest O’ Whitby (red vinyl) only 1000 import from the UK

“Following the release of Evinta, in which MDB marked its first 20 years with a release of symphonic compositions re-imagining earlier material, My Dying Bride returns with the 27 minute epic, The Barghest O’ Whitby.

Poetic, funereal and featuring an inspirational combination of pounding guitar riffs and sombre atmospheric passages, The Barghest O’ Whitby tells the chilling tale of a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge.

Recorded at Futureworks Studios, Manchester with long-time production partner & engineer, Mags, the release is the first to feature violin/keyboardist Shaun Macgowan, and sees the return of Shaun ‘Winter’ Taylor Steels to the drum-stool.

This limited vinyl edition of The Barghest O’ Whitby is presented on red vinyl & is limited to 1000 copies only.”

Darkthrone – Sempiternal Past: The Darkthrone Demos (black vinyl) import from the UK

“Darkthrone began in the late 80’s as a thrash/death metal act & progressed through technical death/doom metal experimentation to become legends of the black metal world & one of the original leading bands of the Norwegian scene.

‘Sempiternal Past’ contains all 4 of Darkthrone’s cult demo releases recorded in 1988-1989 (‘Land of Frost’, ‘A New Dimension’, ‘Thulcandra’, & ‘Cromlech’); now fully restored & remastered from the best tape sources available. Also included on this release are the tracks recorded at Oslo TV in 1989, along with a restored version of the rare song ‘God of Disturbance & Friction’.

‘Sempiternal Past’ is presented on limited double vinyl with gatefold sleeve, with the sleeve including band notes, plus rare photos. ”

Enslaved – Yggdrasill (black vinyl) import from the UK

“Enslaved was formed by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson in 1991, & are based in Bergen, Norway. Ivar & Grutle had previously played together in the death metal band, Phobia. Taking a different route to many of the extreme metal Norwegian bands of the early 90’s, Enslaved embraced their Viking history & culture, composing ferocious epics of extreme metal combined with hypnotic riffs & repetitious structures; Enslaved even becoming signed to Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence label early in their career.

‘Yggdrasill’ was the band’s second demo (following 1991’s feet-finding ‘Nema’), showing a young band with great passion & creativity. The songs were understandably raw & contained some traits of the Norwegian wave of black metal sweeping the region at the time, along with their own individual touch. Although more focused on Viking/Norwegian lore than anything satanic, Enslaved’s signature sound still captured the magic of the genre with long, hypnotic compositions losing the listener within their vast sonic landscapes.

Over the years, the band has integrated strong elements of progressive music into their compositions & Enslaved has gone on to worldwide notoriety for their stunning live shows & accomplished blend of atmospherics & sumptuous, powerful riffs, receiving numerous accolades along the way, including Norwegian Grammys.

This limited black vinyl edition of ‘Yggdrasill’ features the bonus track ‘Enslaved’ plus new liner notes written by the band. ”

Katatonia – For Funerals To Come (black vinyl) only 1500 import from the UK

“Katatonia was formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Their debut album, ‘Dance of December Souls’, was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal & joining acts such as Paradise Lot & My Dying Bride as one of the genre’s defining bands. On future albums a newer, sleeker Katatonia sound came to the fore, starting with a streamlined & structured collection of melodic dark rock songs that became third album ‘Discouraged Ones’; the main evolution point for modern day Katatonia.

‘For Funerals to Come’ is an incredibly rare piece of death/doom metal mastery from back in 1994, which was recorded following Katatonia’s debut album, ‘Dance of December Souls’. It was recorded with Dan Swanö at the famous Unisound Studios & contains the trademarks of early era Katatonia with the haunting guitar melodies & slow tempo combining with the tortured vocals of Jonas Renkse to create an aura of melancholy & gothic darkness.

This edition of ‘For Funerals to Come’ contains 2 extra tracks, ‘Black Erotica’ & ‘Love of the Swan’ (both also recorded at Unisound later in 1994), which had previously appeared on an obscure compilation. It is presented on black vinyl & limited to 1500 copies only, and contains new liner notes from co-founding member, writer & guitarist, Anders Nyström.”

Anathema – Eternity (white vinyl) only 500 import from Finland

“Duncan Patterson, the band mastermind at the time, wanted Eternity to be Anathema’s White Album. He wanted the cover artwork to pay homage to the Beatles classic, but Music for Nations considered the concept uncommercial. So the album cover ended up sporting an image of an angel lost in cheesy CGI space. The Svart vinyl reissue has the music spread over two albums for maximum fidelity – the original MFN vinyl had everything stuffed on one platter – and, for the first time ever, the artwork as Patterson originally wanted it to look. Available on white and black heavyweight vinyl. Also features new liner notes by Mr Patterson.”

Electric Wizard – Electric Wizard (black vinyl) only 1000

Repress from Rise Above Records of Electric Wizard’s debut album. “Considered by many to literally be The Heaviest Band In The World, Electric Wizard is more like a cult than a band. The Wizard conjure up visions of Alistair Crowley having a black trip with HP Lovecraft, whilst gazing at the most far out biker flicks ever created. This, combined with the crustiest gravity defying Doom riffs and drones, Electric Wizard have one mission: To Destroy! ”

Paradise Lost – Draconian Times MMXI (black vinyl) import from Germany

“The new live album goes back in time to Paradise Lost’s 1995 classic album Draconian Times and combines their matured experience with a new found love to their own legacy. Armed with tons of extra material and an extended booklet featuring original stories & interviews from the 1995 issues of Metal Hammer and Rock Hard. Paradise Lost are one of the few outstanding acts working hard and earning their legendary status by the power of the song – and Draconian Times MMXI proves that these songs stand the test of time. This is the limited edition 2LP gatefold 180 gram version with a download card. (2011)”

Machine Head – Unto The Locust (black vinyl) import from Germany

“Unto The Locust” is the essence of what Machine Head have been doing for nearly two decades. “It feels like the culmination of what we’ve been doing for the last 17 years: power grooves, patented Machine Head harmonics, crushing guitars and dark melodies, but taken to a new level,” Flynn said. “It’s a natural progression from The Blackening.”

Amebix – Sonic Mass (picture vinyl) import from the UK

“the new album Sonic Mass is the product of guerrilla warfare, “it took three years, looking for opportunities to meet and create music – different places, different times. It feels like this album grew organically around us. It’s a mature reflection on the lives we’ve lived and a vindication of the journey”. Sonic Mass is a dark, sprawling soundscape of majestic proportions, metal and richly gothic toned, of tribal drumbeats and soaring melodies.
